THE GIFT OF CHRISTMAS

Sue O'Donnell. 24.12.20

“God gave us the law through Moses, but grace and truth came when He sent Jesus Christ.” (John 1 v 17 The Truth)

Creator of the stars at night,

He shines an everlasting Light,

The promised Saviour born to us.

Mysteriously, miraculously, Mary’s Baby,

Was holy love come to earth,

In a promised, expected, virgin birth.

Christ Jesus is this Light,

The bright light of God’s love, His mercy.

“I, I AM the Light of the world.” (John 8 v 12 The Truth)

Wondrously given that we,

By love made to be one family,

Learn to live to give of this love.

Let the Christmas season see love’s increase,

In generosity of help and time given,

Of resources, skills, talents shared.

May the Holy Spirit help with our intention

To love with all our heart.

“Anyone who follows Me will never walk in spiritual darkness because (s)he has the life that gives him (her) light.” (John 8 v 12 The Truth)

And to mention Christ Jesus with us,

Whenever, wherever we can to encourage,

For it is the love of our Saviour within us

That gifts us the power of the Holy Spirit.

Christmas Eve, I believe in tomorrow.

The story of Christmas is true,

True for me, true for you.

Jesus is born as gift to us.

“Jesus was full of grace and we will receive from Him one act of grace after another. He constantly blessed us in ways we could not deserve.” (John 1 v 16 The Truth)

The Lord God, our Father is the Giver.

The Holy Spirit makes all this possible,

The reality of the Nativity

And our ability to believe in this.

Christ Jesus, Light of the world,

He is the full meaning of Christmas.

Love consciously given, love well received.

As for all who believe in Him.

“To them He gave the right to become God’s children, those who were not only born naturally with a human mother and father, but given a second birth by God.” (John 1 v 12 The Truth)

“The Word then, became a Man and came to live amongst us.” (John 1 v 14 the Truth)

“God gave us the law through Moses, buy grace and truth came when He sent Jesus Christ” (John 1 v 17 The Truth) the counsel of wisdom and understanding too, as we receive the extra gift of the Holy Spirit.

Let us pray with thanksgiving and rejoicing, anticipating tomorrow.

Let us pray too, with appreciation expressed for the season of Advent, a time hopefully when we have made spiritually ready to receive Jesus, as the Gift of Christmas.

The Holy Spirit shows us how we are reconciled to our Father, beginning with the birth of Christ Jesus that first Christmas. Let us pray in gratitude expressed warmly.

Tomorrow begins the season of joy as we see hope of heaven in the process of being fulfilled. Let us pray with thanksgiving. “You see, those who live as God’s sons (daughters) are happy to be led by God’s

Spirit,” (Romans 8 v 14 The Truth) that we overcome evil with good.

“ ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men’.” (Luke 2 v 13, 14) Amen.
